Monopol Films is pleased to work with a diverse group of local filmmakers and others with strong Maine connections:
Willard Carroll (Writer-Director) is a versatile writer, director, and producer whose work ranges from sophisticated adult dramas to family films. Carroll wrote, produced, and directed Miramax’s PLAYING BY HEART with Sean Connery, Angelina Jolie, Gena Rowlands, Jon Stewart, Ryan Phillippe, and Dennis Quaid, and more recently wrote and directed the musical romantic comedy MARIGOLD starring Ali Larter and Salman Khan, filmed in India. He won an Emmy Award as executive producer of the Showtime movie MY LOUISIANA SKY.
Shane Cole (Director) has made six micro-budget horror-thrillers through his company Masked Films – all having received general world-wide distribution. He learned filmmaking from the ground up, starting out the old-fashioned way (working for free) on a few low-budget movies. Soon, however, he was being paid for his production work at TV commercials producer Acme Film Works and later at Hyperion Pictures, where he worked on film and TV projects for Disney, HBO, Warner Bros., and others.
Tony Copolillo (Editor-Visual Effects Supervisor) is a Los Angeles-based artist/photographer/illustrator and senior art director with 20+ years experience in high-end digital photo-compositing for motion picture print advertising clients Disney, Fox, DreamWorks, Universal, WB, HBO, Netflix and more. He produced over 200 visual effects for the film NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEB which he also edited. Recent projects have focused on feature film editing, VFX, 3D and motion graphics, as well as teaching advanced courses in 3D.
Michael A. Nickles (Writer-Director-Producer) is an award-winning filmmaker who recently directed Shannon Elizabeth in the golf drama SWING AWAY. He has written and/or directed several award-winning feature films including PLAYBACK (starring Christian Slater), JUST PECK (starring Brie Larson), and the animated feature BUNYAN & BABE (starring John Goodman). As a cinematographer, Nickles has worked on numerous documentaries, including the cult classic HANDS ON A HARDBODY.
Kyle Rankin (Writer-Director-Producer) just completed NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEB, a romantic zombie comedy he produced and directed in his home state of Maine. He won Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s “Project Greenlight” competition and subsequently directed The Battle of Shaker Heights starring Shia LaBeouf. He wrote and directed Infestation for Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions, the TV movie “Nuclear Family” for Michael Eisner’s Vuguru, and the Web hits “Hellholes” and “Case Tape #347.”
Tom Wilhite (Producer) has produced more than 200 hours of live-action and animated motion pictures, television programming, and video-premiere movies through his company Hyperion Pictures which he founded after serving as head of production for Walt Disney Studios. Among the films made during his Disney tenure are the original TRON, the first CG feature, and Splash, then Disney’s biggest live-action success. A former Executive Director of Sundance Institute and Sundance Film Festival, Wilhite began his entertainment industry career at the Rogers & Cowan public relations firm. He is an Emmy Award winning producer and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
